A small lamp shaped like a mushroom, turned from wood with a dark walnut cap over a lighter tapered stem. The light sits under the cap, so what you get is a warm glow washing down over the surface it stands on rather than a bulb shining at you. It is the sort of light you put on at the end of the day when the overhead is too much.

There is no cord once it is charged. A single brass button on the stem turns it on and steps it through three levels of brightness, from a full working light down to something closer to a candle. Charge it over USB and move it wherever you want it: a bedside table, a shelf, a windowsill, the corner of a desk.

Which size? Both sizes do the same job, they just take up different amounts of room.

Medium: about 9 cm across and 10.5 cm tall. Squat and low, good on a narrow bedside table, a bathroom shelf or a windowsill where a taller lamp would be in the way.
Large: about 10 cm across and 17 cm tall, with a longer stem. The glow sits higher so it reaches further across a table. Good beside a bed or on a sideboard.

Care: wipe the wood with a dry or barely damp cloth. Keep it out of standing water and away from direct heat. Charge it from a low voltage source such as a laptop, a power bank or a 5V wall plug, rather than a fast charger or a high voltage adapter.

It charges over a USB cable into the base. Use a low voltage source such as a laptop, a power bank or a 5V wall plug up to 2A. Avoid fast chargers and high voltage adapters, as they can damage the battery. Once charged you can use it anywhere without a cord.

The light is warm and there are three brightness levels. At the top setting it is enough to read by at arm's length. At the lowest it is closer to candlelight, which is what most people leave it on for. It is an ambient lamp rather than a task light, so it lights a corner or a bedside rather than a whole room.

A tracking number is emailed to you within 24 hours of dispatch. You can follow it on our Order Tracking page. Tracking often shows no movement for a week or so while the parcel is in international transit. That is normal and it will update once it lands in New Zealand.
